A 27-year-old man has been taken into custody for allegedly producing and disseminating an 'objectionable' video that features a poster of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati, the police reported on Wednesday.
The video, shared during Karwa Chauth, displays the individual gazing through a sieve at the former chief minister's poster, blowing a kiss, and purportedly offering it water. This depiction, closely linked to Hindu customs where women fast for their husbands and partake in specific rituals, provoked displeasure among BSP followers.
Angered BSP supporters filed a complaint at the local police station, demanding action. Subsequently, a probe led to the arrest of the accused, Lavesh Saini from Rampur Kalan, on Tuesday. Further investigations are currently in progress, authorities confirmed.
