The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in the National Capital Region (NCR) and adjoining areas has issued directives to the NCR State Pollution Control Boards and Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) to enhance efforts in addressing public complaints related to air quality. As per the new instructions, complaints received through various social media platforms of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and the respective state boards will now be streamlined and shared with the CAQM for real-time monitoring and action.

The CPCB and the NCR Pollution Control Boards/DPCC will assign complaints to the relevant implementing agency and tag the CAQM to ensure efficient handling. The authority responsible for the complaint will also be required to upload the compliance status or provide reasons for non-compliance on the same platform while tagging CAQM and CPCB.

This system aims to improve accountability and track the response time of authorities in resolving air quality concerns. Furthermore, the CAQM has instructed the NCR Pollution Control Boards/DPCC to widely publicize the availability of the complaint mechanism through multiple channels, including social media, to inform the public.

Additionally, the Chief Secretaries of the NCR states and GNCTD have been urged to sensitize the relevant authorities responsible for implementing air pollution control measures in the NCR. This directive is part of ongoing efforts to ensure timely resolution of air pollution-related issues through enhanced monitoring, accountability, and enforcement across the region.
