A 29-year-old man has been taken into custody after allegedly striking and killing a food delivery agent in southwest Delhi. The incident happened when the victim was crossing the street, according to police reports.
The suspect, Naveen Kumar, who operates a salon, fled the scene immediately following the accident. Law enforcement officials were able to arrest him on Tuesday and impound the vehicle involved, which is registered under his sister's name.
The victim, identified as Harendra, worked for the online food delivery platform Zomato. Postmortem results placed his body in the family's care, as ongoing investigations continue into Delhi's troubling rate of fatal road accidents this year.
