Police in Madhya Pradesh's Guna district have detained a couple from Rajasthan and three other individuals for allegedly trying to convert locals to Christianity, officials confirmed on Monday.

The arrested individuals were charged under the state's stringent anti-conversion law and the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, according to the authorities.

The arrests followed a complaint from Charan Singh Adivasi, a tribal resident, who claimed he learned of ongoing conversions in his village. Singh reported the matter to Hindu organizations, which intervened and alerted the police. Upon investigation, officers found the accused offering money and gifts to facilitate conversions, leading to their immediate detention.
