Chappad Rajan Pardi, a man wanted in connection with a dacoity case, was arrested after a dramatic encounter, police confirmed on Monday. The arrest occurred on Sunday night and involved an exchange of gunfire during which Pardi sustained a bullet injury in his leg.

According to Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Anand, the police acted on a tip-off and surrounded Pardi near Jalalpur Panwara. Pardi opened fire, leading to a retaliatory response in which he was injured. Officers recovered a country-made pistol, cartridges, and over Rs 15,000 in cash from his possession.

Pardi was the prime suspect in a dacoity incident that happened in Makrand Nagar on June 29, during which a businessman was held hostage and robbed of his pistol, cash worth over Rs 4 lakh, and jewelry. Seven other individuals have already been arrested in connection with the same case. Pardi has been hospitalized for his injuries.
