In a tragic turn of events, Anna Shinde, the father of Akshay Shinde—an accused in the Badlapur sexual assault case—raised serious questions about the police's version of his son's death in an alleged shootout.

Anna Shinde, speaking to PTI on Tuesday, expressed disbelief over the police's claim that his son, who was scared of bursting crackers, could have snatched a policeman's gun and opened fire. ''We want justice,'' he firmly stated, highlighting their willingness to accept a court's verdict after a fair trial.

The family plans to collect Akshay's body on Wednesday for the last rites, following its post-mortem at state-run JJ Hospital and subsequent transfer to a civic-run hospital in Kalwa, Thane district. Anna Shinde emphasized that, as poor people, they feel unheard, and asserted that Akshay was possibly killed for unknown reasons.
