Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to the United States has showcased India's formidable presence on the global stage, according to remarks by Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday.

''The prime minister's US visit has reaffirmed India's position as the leader of the global south and a rising global power focused on peace and development,'' Sawant told PTI.

Sawant highlighted that Modi's attendance at the UN Summit of the Future was instrumental in presenting the 'India story,' particularly India's achievements in digital payment infrastructure, which have wowed international observers.

He noted that the world is keen to adopt India's DPI-UPI system to revolutionize payment infrastructure. Additionally, Modi's visit drew attention to India's efforts in sustainable development, which have lifted 250 million people out of poverty over the last decade.
