The Karnataka High Court has upheld Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot's sanction for an investigation against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in a controversial site allotment case. Siddaramaiah, who faces allegations of irregularities in allotting 14 sites to his wife, has firmly rejected calls for his resignation, terming the investigation politically motivated.
The Congress, rallying behind Siddaramaiah, has accused the Central Government of 'vendetta politics' and intends to challenge the investigation both legally and politically. The Chief Minister, asserting his innocence, stated that the decision to resign is premature and unnecessary.
Congress leaders denounced the misuse of the Governor's office, alleging a conspiracy to destabilize the state government. Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister and other Congress stalwarts have expressed unwavering support for Siddaramaiah, vowing to confront the allegations head-on.
