In a significant crackdown, a 26-year-old driver and his brother have been apprehended for allegedly siphoning off Rs 40 lakh from the former's employer in South Delhi's Malviya Nagar. The arrest, which took place on a train in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, underscores the lengths to which the accused went in their attempt to escape.

The suspects, identified as Mani Bhushan and Shashi Bhushan, hail from Bihar's Sitamarhi district. Mani had been working as a driver/servant for his employer for over two years, while Shashi was employed as a porter. Their alleged scheme came to light when Mani absconded with a parcel containing the substantial cash amount on August 30, following an instruction from his employer to receive it in a parking area.

The police were able to track them down using CCTV footage, and mobile phone tracing technology. A total of Rs 32.6 lakh and a racing motorcycle, bought with Rs 4.5 lakh of the stolen money, were recovered. The case highlights the vulnerabilities in cash handling and parcel delivery practices.
