A 32-year-old man allegedly shot his sister-in-law before killing himself at Bihari Bigaha village on the outskirts of Patna, police stated on Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as Deepak Kumar and his sister-in-law, Gudia Devi. According to police, Kumar also shot his wife, Laxmi Devi, who has been hospitalized with a bullet injury.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Barh-1, Aprajit, mentioned that a call was received reporting the shooting incident. By the time the police arrived, Deepak Kumar and Gudia Devi had succumbed to their injuries, while Laxmi Devi was immediately taken to the nearest government hospital and is in serious condition. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.

SDPO Aprajit revealed that early investigations point toward marital disputes as the cause. Deepak had been staying at his in-law's house for the past two months. Family members reported that Deepak unexpectedly shot at his wife, then his sister-in-law, before taking his own life. The police recovered a country-made revolver and spent cartridges from the scene and are conducting further investigations.
