India and China engaged in a 'frank, constructive, and forward-looking' discussion on the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) at the 31st meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation & Coordination (WMCC) on India-China Border Affairs held in Beijing, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed.

The dialogue aimed to address unresolved issues and emphasized the restoration of peace and respect for the LAC as the cornerstone for normal bilateral relations. The meeting built on the progress made during previous discussions, with both sides committing to intensified diplomatic and military contacts.

Gourangalal Das, joint secretary (east Asia) of the MEA, led the Indian delegation, while the Chinese delegation was headed by Hong Liang, director general of the Boundary & Ocean Affairs Department. Both nations agreed to uphold existing bilateral agreements and ensure peace in the border areas.
