Manipur CM Promises Peace Restoration Amid Ethnic Violence
With the intensity of ethnic violence decreasing, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has pledged to restore peace in the state within six months, emphasizing dialogue and support from the central government. Singh revealed appointing an emissary to facilitate talks between conflicting Kuki-zo and Meitei factions, amid long-standing tensions.

Amid easing ethnic violence, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has vowed to restore peace in the state within six months with support from the central government, denying any intention to resign.
In an interview, Singh disclosed appointing Dinganglung Gangmei as an emissary to initiate dialogue between the Kuki-zo and Meitei communities. The tensions, which began in May 2023, have already resulted in 226 deaths.
'Dialogue is the only way,' insisted Singh, pointing towards cooperation with the central government as crucial in achieving peace.
