In a significant cyber fraud incident, cybercriminals have defrauded a Gaya-based doctor of over Rs 4.40 crore from his bank accounts, police sources revealed on Thursday.

However, the swift intervention by authorities has managed to halt any further withdrawals. According to Gaya SSP Ashish Bharti, the Cyber Police station in Gaya registered a complaint based on a report from Dr. A N Rai, who stated that cybercriminals had fraudulently siphoned off Rs 4.40 crore from his seven bank accounts over the past few days. Bharti added that the amount was withdrawn through 14 transactions.

DSP Sakshi Rai, in-charge of the cyber police station, mentioned that initial investigations point to the involvement of cybercriminals based in Delhi and Andhra Pradesh. To mitigate the damage, police have successfully intercepted Rs 58 lakh in the accounts of these criminals and are continuing their investigation.
