In a disturbing case of suspected honour killing, two men in Delhi have been apprehended for allegedly smothering their 35-year-old sister to death, officials reported on Thursday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) M Harsha Vardhan stated that the arrests of Abdullah and Arib were made using footage from CCTV cameras. Vardhan emphasized that no signs of sexual assault were found.
According to initial investigations, the brothers suspected their sister of having an affair post-divorce, which they found insulting. They purportedly devised a plan to kill her as a result. Vardhan confirmed that she was smothered to death, with the precise cause to be determined following a postmortem examination. Her body was discovered in the Hauz Qazi area of central Delhi early Thursday morning.
