BJP leader Devender Singh Rana revealed that in 2014, Omar Abdullah, former National Conference (NC) leader, met with BJP leaders Amit Shah and Ram Madhav seeking to form a government with the NC. Rana, speaking on Monday, accused Abdullah of misleading the people of Kashmir, claiming that the NC had approached every political party for government formation due to only having 15 seats.

Further, Rana disclosed that between August 2019 and October 2021, multiple attempts were made by the NC to establish contact with BJP leadership for an alliance. He urged Omar Abdullah to come clean, emphasizing that the NC would not form a government or have an alliance with any political party in Jammu and Kashmir.

In the upcoming assembly polls, Congress and the NC have teamed up for the elections in Jammu and Kashmir, which features 90 constituencies with reserved seats for Scheduled Castes and Tribes. The elections, set to occur in three phases, mark the first assembly polls since the removal of Article 370.
