Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) Vice President, Omar Abdullah, has pointed out the shifting ideologies among politicians who are joining the Mehbooba Mufti-led People's Democratic Party (PDP) as elections approach. 'I won't go into that, ideology keeps changing. Elections are here, they are ready to contest,' Abdullah said during a briefing in Ganderbal on Monday.

Recalling the challenges faced by JKNC over the years, Abdullah asserted, 'We were proved to be true. We have always been saying since the '90s that situations would degrade here, there would be bloodshed but nothing would change. Today, we have been proven right.' He stressed that democratic ways would bring about any gains and welcomed leaders joining other parties if they believed in democracy.

Meanwhile, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti reaffirmed her party's agenda of reconciliation and dialogue, emphasizing that Hurriyat leaders should not be considered untouchables. She expressed readiness for dialogue with Hurriyat leaders if they chose to engage in the process. The first assembly poll since the abrogation of Article 370 will be conducted in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1, with counting on October 8.
