Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced on Thursday that he had visited the country's northeast border area, a strategic site of a major Ukrainian offensive into Russia's Kursk region. During his visit, he celebrated the capture of another Russian village.

Zelenskiy met with his top commander, Oleksandr Syrskyi, in the Sumy region, highlighting the success of Ukrainian forces. He noted that the operation has bolstered troop morale after enduring months of gradual Russian advances in the east. A video released showed Zelenskiy embracing Syrskyi.

The offensive into Kursk has resulted in a buffer zone, reducing shelling and civilian casualties in the Sumy region. Zelenskiy further outlined measures to fortify defenses on the eastern front, particularly near Toretsk and Pokrovsk, where Russian forces are concentrating their efforts.
