Two policemen were injured on Wednesday in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, as a protest against Ramgiri Maharaj's remarks on Prophet Mohammad and Islam turned violent. The incident saw stones hurled at police, damaging vehicles and forcing law enforcement to disperse the crowd with teargas.
Approximately 300-400 protestors, led by religious leaders Sayyad Haji Ali and Sayyad Javed Ali, demanded action against Maharaj, who already faces multiple FIRs. The situation escalated near Kotwali police station, leading to injuries of personnel and calls for swift legal action.
Local authorities are identifying the rioters using CCTV footage and video clippings. Community leader Javed Ali urged calm, stressing the need for maintaining peace following the unrest sparked by Maharaj's controversial remarks at a recent event in Nashik.
