A 17-year-old Dalit girl was found dead at a skilling centre run by a Christian missionary trust in Bhadohi, police confirmed on Monday. The victim, Madhu Bharti, was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan.
Madhu had been working as an assistant at the 'Karunalaya' skilling centre for a year, according to the police. Before this, she was employed at a school run by the same trust in Kushinagar. The trust has been operational for 22 years, providing training in various skills to young girls.
Authorities were alerted to the incident by the trust late Sunday night. A post-mortem confirmed death by hanging. Police are examining call records and questioning those associated with the trust to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
