Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the West Bengal Congress president, has sent an urgent plea to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, seeking intervention in alleged cases of torture against migrant workers from West Bengal in Odisha.
Chowdhury has also notified the chief ministers of both West Bengal and Odisha about these troubling incidents, urging a prompt and effective resolution.
Reports indicate that these labourers have faced social discrimination and physical violence, exacerbated by local suspicions of them being Bangladeshis. Highlighting their vulnerability, Chowdhury called for immediate measures to ensure their safety and maintain social harmony.
