Assistant Engineer and Aide Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Executive Engineer

An assistant engineer of Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam and his aide were taken into custody following a shootout with police. The arrests are linked to the alleged murder of an executive engineer over a professional dispute. The suspects, hailing from Bihar, were injured and are hospitalized.

An assistant engineer from the Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam and his accomplice were apprehended on Sunday after an encounter with police, officials announced. The arrests come in connection with the alleged murder of an executive engineer within the department.

Amit Kumar, an ad hoc assistant engineer, and his aide Pradeep, were shot in the legs during the encounter, according to police sources. The duo reportedly opened fire on the police while attempting to evade capture, sustaining injuries in the return fire, detailed Additional Superintendent of Police Arun Chandra.

The accused, both from Bihar, have been hospitalized. They were allegedly trying to escape after killing executive engineer Santosh Kumar, 40, over a professional disagreement. The deceased's brother lodged a complaint stating that the victim planned to blacklist a firm, which angered Amit Kumar, leading to the fatal encounter.
