U.N. Peacekeepers Injured in Lebanon Explosion
Three U.N. peacekeepers were slightly injured in an explosion near their vehicle in southern Lebanon. All peacekeepers safely returned to base. UNIFIL is investigating the incident and has urged all parties to ensure the safety of peacekeepers and civilians.
Three U.N. peacekeepers were lightly injured when an explosion occurred near their clearly marked vehicle in the village of Yarine, southern Lebanon, according to UNIFIL spokesperson Andrea Tenenti on Sunday.
"All peacekeepers in the patrol returned safely to their base," Tenenti stated, without providing further details on the explosion. "We are looking into the incident. We are strongly reminding all parties and actors of their responsibility to avoid harm to peacekeepers and civilians," he added.
