Kolkata Police on Sunday summoned TMC MP Sukhendu Sekhar Roy for questioning, hours after he demanded the CBI interrogate Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal and former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

Earlier, Roy urged the CBI, which is investigating the rape and murder of a woman doctor at the state-run RG Kar MCH, to ensure a fair probe and called for the custodial interrogation of the implicated individuals to unveil the truth behind the suicide narrative.

Sources indicated the summons pertained to Roy's alleged posting of inaccurate information regarding the incident. Roy has been asked to appear at Kolkata Police headquarters in Lalbazar at 4 pm on Sunday.

In response to queries about the summons' connection to Roy's comment on the CP, the source declined to elaborate but noted that the TMC MP had commented on the use of police sniffer dogs at RG Kar MCH during their investigation into the doctor's death.

The deceased woman doctor's parents were informed on August 9 that their daughter died by suicide at the hospital. However, Commissioner Goyal stated that no police officer had made such a call to the parents.

The former RG Kar Medical College principal, Sandip Ghosh, was interrogated by the CBI for several hours over the course of three days in connection with the ongoing probe.
