Security Forces Engage Terrorists in Poonch's Kalaban Area Amid Rising Tensions
A fierce encounter has erupted between security forces and terrorists in Poonch district's Kalaban area. Joint operations by the Indian Army, Poonch Police, and CRPF are underway. Recent weeks have seen heightened terror activity, including deadly confrontations and thwarted infiltration attempts.

Security forces clashed with terrorists in the Kalaban area near Pathanateer in Poonch district, according to an official statement. Police confirmed that contact was established in Katara of the Mendhar sector.
The Indian Army's Romeo Force, along with Poonch Police's Special Operation Group (SOG) and CRPF, launched an immediate joint search operation. The area has been cordoned off, and sporadic firing was reported earlier in the morning.
Just this past Friday, two army soldiers lost their lives in a gunbattle in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district. The White Knight Corps paid tribute to the fallen soldiers, extending condolences to their families.
Security has been tightened in Kishtwar following the encounter in Naidgham village. On September 9, intelligence inputs led to an anti-infiltration operation by the White Knight Corps in Lam, Nowshera, resulting in the neutralization of two terrorists and the recovery of weapons.
The Jammu region has seen a surge in terror attacks in recent months. Meanwhile, the region is preparing for assembly elections scheduled across three phases, starting on September 18, with results expected on October 8.
