The family of a former CRPF officer, who was arrested for allegedly manhandling Congress MLA Rafeek Khan, has lodged a formal memorandum with the Jaipur district collector, seeking his release.

Ratiram Jakhar, the father of Vikas Jakhar, addressed the memorandum to the President, accusing Khan of falsely implicating his son. Jakhar is a recipient of the Shaurya Chakra. Ratiram Jakhar alleged that Khan was using his political clout to prevent Vikas's release.

Vikas Jakhar was arrested following an altercation at Khan's residence in Jaipur and is currently under judicial custody. Ratiram Jakhar claimed that Khan and his supporters had also manhandled Vikas and suggested that Khan intended to kill his son. He pointed to a video on social media showing Khan slapping Vikas multiple times and supporters joining the thrashing with Khan's consent.

Ratiram Jakhar contended that Rafiq Khan used his political influence to avoid legal repercussions and block Vikas's bail.
