The Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) foresees substantial growth in cruise passengers following a remarkable 40% rise in FY 2023-24, attributed to increased global cruise liner traffic. The completion of an International and Domestic Cruise Terminal in Goa is scheduled for March 2025, an official announced.
Speaking at the Maritime States Development Council meeting in Goa, the official highlighted that the new terminal and its facilities will bolster tourism, local economy, and sustainable practices, thereby enhancing the region's global competitiveness in the cruise market.
Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal visited the proposed site of the state-of-the-art terminal, which will house 34 immigration counters, multiple check-in and waiting areas, and commercial spaces, aimed at serving both cruise tourists and the general public, the official said.
