In a startling incident at Mumbai international airport, five individuals were arrested after a bag containing inflammable chemicals caught fire before it could be loaded onto an Ethiopian Airlines flight to Addis Ababa. The incident took place on Friday morning.
Among those arrested was Samir Narayanchandra Bishwas, 31, a resident of West Bengal, who was allegedly carrying the bag. His accomplices include Nandan Dinesh Yadav, 26, Suresh Subba Singh, 46, Vishwanath Balasubramaniam Senjundhar, 37, and Akhilesh Gajraj Yadav, 37. Naveen Sharma, suspected to be in Congo, is also wanted in the case.
The quick response from airport safety, security, and fire teams ensured the fire was promptly doused. Authorities are now investigating the contents and the intended purpose of the inflammable material found in the bag. The aircraft was dispatched following standard safety protocols, and the matter is under forensic examination.
