The Government Railway Police (GRP) have apprehended a 23-year-old woman from Maharashtra's Thane district in connection with six chain-snatching incidents aboard suburban trains, an official disclosed on Saturday.

The GRP was investigating a complaint from a woman who lost a gold chain while boarding a local train from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus on August 2. This led to uncovering several similar cases reported in Kurla and other regions in Mumbai, according to an official statement.

GRP crime branch senior inspector Arshuddin Sheikh mentioned that the police team tracked the suspects' movements using various inputs, including CCTV footage. While examining recordings from Thane, Bhandup, Ghatkopar, and other stations, they identified the accused as Roshni More. She was arrested in the Diwa area.

The police recovered stolen jewellery worth Rs 2.34 lakh from More, who allegedly targeted women on local trains and was involved in six chain-snatching cases.
