Train services between Mankhurd and Vashi stations on Mumbai's Harbour Line were disrupted Saturday morning due to a broken Overhead Electric (OHE) line, the railways announced.

Passengers were permitted to travel via the Transharbour Line using their existing tickets and passes until services resume. This temporary arrangement will remain until the OHE issue is resolved, according to a statement from Central Railways.

The Central Railways further indicated that services are currently operational between CSMT-Vadala and Vashi-Panvel only. 'Down Services are not running between Vadala-Vashi. The process for rectification of OHE is ongoing. UP line services are also impacted due to defects on the down line,' the CPRO of Central Railways stated.

Overhead Electric (OHE) Lines are essential for transmitting electrical energy over long distances, ensuring the smooth operation of train services. Earlier disruptions were noted on August 8, when local train services between Asangaon and Adgaon were halted due to a fallen boulder on the tracks.

Following several hours of restoration work, authorities cleared the debris and reinstated train services. 'Restoration work has concluded, and service has resumed between Asangaon and Adgaon on the Kalyan-Kasara section,' the Central Railway confirmed. The incident had affected upline services towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, impacting trains like the 22224 SAINAGAR SHIRDI-CSMT Vande Bharat Express and the 11072 BALLIA-LTT Kamayani Express.
