Intent on Peace: Doha Negotiations for Gaza Ceasefire Continue Amidst Ongoing Conflict
Negotiators gathered in Doha to work towards a ceasefire in Gaza. Despite ongoing Israeli airstrikes, efforts continue to end the conflict that has claimed over 40,000 lives. U.S. and Qatari officials, along with Hamas and Israeli representatives, are seeking a framework for a sustainable peace agreement.
Officials reconvened in Doha on Friday to continue discussions aimed at establishing a ceasefire in Gaza, even as Israeli forces persisted in targeting the Palestinian enclave.
Gaza's health authorities reported a death toll exceeding 40,000, more than 10 months into the conflict. The talks, initiated on Thursday, are set for a second day, according to officials from the U.S. and Qatar.
A U.S. source familiar with the talks, who requested anonymity, described Thursday's negotiations as 'constructive.' U.S. national security spokesperson John Kirby emphasized the importance of the discussions, calling them 'vital work,' and urged for the resolution of remaining obstacles.
