Israel's Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, on August 30, discussed expanding the goals of the ongoing conflict to ensure the return of northern communities to their homes. This was during a strategic briefing with senior IDF officials, including the Chief of General Staff.
Gallant highlighted that IDF's achievements in Gaza facilitated the return of most southern residents and created conditions for the release of numerous hostages. He stated that the mission now includes securing the safe return of the northern residents without compromising efforts to dismantle Hamas and release more hostages.
Gallant shared on social media that a comprehensive strategy would be proposed to the Prime Minister and the Cabinet, emphasizing that expanding war goals won't affect the commitment to dismantle Hamas and secure the hostages' release.
