The Punjab Cabinet has made a series of landmark decisions aimed at streamlining processes and improving public welfare. Among the key measures is the removal of the no-objection certificate (NOC) requirement for land and property registration. This decision was finalized in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

Addressing the media, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora confirmed that the NOC clause would be eliminated, with further modalities to be worked out. Those with land registries and registered sale agreements up to July 31, 2024, will no longer require an NOC. The move is intended to protect the public from unscrupulous colonizers and ease the process of securing basic amenities.

Additionally, the Cabinet has given a nod to the Punjab Fire Safety and Emergency Services Bill, 2024. This will modify the fire safety certification process, shifting from an annual requirement to every three years, based on risk classification. The legislation will also include provisions for fire risk insurance.

In a further bid to boost revenue and reduce environmental impact, the Cabinet approved measures such as reducing motor vehicle tax on tourist vehicles and levying additional road tax on luxury vehicles. The introduction of a green tax on older vehicles aims to curb environmental pollution. Another notable decision includes launching a project for agro-forestry and biodiversity conservation.
