In a remarkable achievement, Mohit Mungre and Saumitra Nachane, students from CEPT University's Faculty of Technology, secured the first and second places in the 'Learning from Failures in Plumbing Systems 2024' competition, organized by the Indian Plumbing Association (IPA). They were awarded cash prizes of Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.

The national competition saw entries from over fifty student chapters. Participants, including Mohit and Saumitra, had to identify and solve plumbing problems in their local residential buildings. Their comprehensive reports and practical solutions aligned with regulatory codes set them apart.

Addressing challenges in Bopal and Paldi residential areas, the students tackled issues like single-stack systems and improper installation. Their projects, mentored by Dr. Dipsha Shah and Prof. Dipen Mehta, highlighted the implications of poor plumbing on human health and structural integrity. The winners will be honored on October 19, 2024, by the IPA Ahmedabad Chapter.
