In a dramatic turn of events, Prem Narain, who had been on the run for over 30 years, was finally apprehended in Kanpur on Saturday.

The police, posing as caterers and builders, executed a meticulous operation to nab the 51-year-old, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Amit Goel. Narain, along with his father and uncle, was allegedly involved in the 1993 murder of Shambhu Dayal in Delhi's Narela area.

Narain had managed to evade capture by relocating to Kanpur, where he lived and worked as a laborer under an assumed identity. The breakthrough came just a few days ago when Sub Inspector Ritesh Kumar discovered that Narain was likely to attend a family wedding. Despite initial setbacks, a dedicated team led by Inspector Manmeet Malik finally laid a successful trap to capture Narain, bringing an end to his decades-long flight from justice.
