Key parliamentary committees have commenced their meetings to address significant issues, including the reservation policies for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in public sector undertakings, as well as the audit of the Jal Jeevan Mission.

This week, several panels, such as the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), the Committee on Welfare of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs), and the Committee on Welfare of Other Backward Classes (OBCs), are slated to meet. The meetings will cover topics identified by these committees.

On Monday, officials from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) will brief the committee members on the welfare of OBCs about the formulation and implementation of reservation policies. On Tuesday, the PAC will review the performance audit of the National Rural Drinking Water Programme (Jal Jeevan Mission) under the Ministry of Jal Shakti.

The Committee on Welfare of SCs and STs will discuss reservation statuses in central public sector undertakings (CPSUs) and the implementation of corporate social responsibility policies aimed at SC and ST communities on Thursday.

Each committee has a one-year tenure and comprises members from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, typically elected through consensus. The PAC is usually chaired by a senior member of the principal opposition party in Lok Sabha.
