U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz will tour several battleground states following her highly anticipated Tuesday debate with Republican former President Donald Trump, her campaign announced on Sunday.
With less than 60 days until the Nov. 5 presidential election, Vice President Harris will begin the tour in North Carolina on Thursday and will travel to Pennsylvania on Friday. Meanwhile, Walz will visit Michigan and Wisconsin. Polling averages reveal a tight race in several crucial states that could swing either to Republicans or Democrats, likely determining the election outcome. The critical battleground states also include Georgia, Wisconsin, and Arizona.
A significant test for Harris and Trump will occur during their televised debate, the first after President Joe Biden exited the race and endorsed Harris as his successor on July 21. Harris' candidacy has revitalized Democrats and donors alike, evidenced by a surge in opinion polls and her campaign raising $361 million in August, giving her a clear cash advantage over Trump.
