In response to last year's violent protests for the Maratha quota, over 500 CCTV cameras have been installed in Beed city and three other towns in Marathwada, an official revealed on Monday.

The installation includes 178 cameras in Beed city, 115 in Majalgaon, 90 in Ashti, and 133 in Parli city, funded by Rs 15.4 crore from the District Planning Committee.

The move aims to curb future incidents of arson and vandalism, such as the October 2023 attack on the residence of NCP MLA Prakash Solanke and the damage to properties of former MLAs Amarsingh Pandit and Jaydatta Kshirsagar in Majalgaon and Beed.
