A record-breaking century by Australian wicketkeeper-batter Jos Inglis, coupled with a stellar spell by all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, propelled Australia to a commanding 70-run victory over Scotland in the second T20I held in Edinburgh on Friday. With this triumph, Australia has clinched the three-match series 2-0.

Scotland opted to field first and struck early, dismissing Travis Head for a golden duck thanks to Brad Currie, who also claimed Jake Fraser McGurk for 16 runs. Australia found itself in a precarious position at 23/2 within 3.2 overs. However, the team regrouped, reaching 55/2 by the end of the powerplay, with Jos Inglis and Cameron Green at the crease. Inglis launched a brutal assault on the Scottish bowlers, particularly targeting Brad Wheal.

Inglis reached his half-century off just 20 balls, featuring three fours and four sixes. By the halfway mark, Australia stood at 100/2 in 10 overs. The partnership between Green and Inglis was instrumental, adding 92 runs before Currie dismissed Green for 36. Inglis raced to his second T20I century in a mere 43 balls, breaking his own and Aaron Finch's record for Australia's fastest century in this format. Inglis' innings ended at 106 runs off 49 balls, with seven fours and seven sixes, courtesy of Chris Sole's delivery.

Contributions from Marcus Stoinis (20* in 20 balls) and Tim David (17* in seven balls) steered Australia to 196/4 in their 20 overs. Currie stood out for Scotland with figures of 3/37.

Chasing 197, Scotland never posed a serious threat as they kept losing wickets regularly. By the end of the powerplay, they were reeling at 44/3 and eventually reached their fifty in 6.1 overs. Brandon McMullen provided some resistance with a 59-run knock off 42 balls, but lack of support from other batsmen saw Scotland crumble to 126 all out in 16.4 overs.

Jos Inglis was deservedly awarded the 'Player of the Match'. Marcus Stoinis shone with the ball, taking 4/23, while Green pocketed two wickets. Xavier Bartlett, Aaron Hardie, Adam Zampa, and Sean Abbott chipped in with a wicket each.
