Odisha Police have successfully arrested four members of an infamous inter-state gang, suspected of numerous thefts across the city in recent days.

According to a police official, the arrested individuals, identified as B Mohit (48), T Murthy (42), Nanda Kumar (47), and S Dinesh (47), belong to the notorious Trichy gang from Tiruchirapalli district, Tamil Nadu. The special squad of the Commissionerate Police apprehended them on Thursday.

The Trichy gang is infamous for targeting crowded areas and conducting thefts by breaking car windshields and pickpocketing. The arrests were linked to a mobile theft case reported at Saheednagar police station. Following a tip-off, the suspects were nabbed while trying to sell stolen mobile phones. Investigations have connected them to at least ten thefts across the city.

The police have seized a significant amount of stolen property, including four laptops, 25 mobile phones, iron balls, and mud pellets believed to be used in the thefts.
