In a tragic incident, a six-year-old male elephant was electrocuted by an illegal electric fence in Tamil Nadu's Virudhunagar district. The incident occurred on a farm in Rajapalayam, where owner Gopalamoorthy had installed the fence to prevent wild boars from entering his property, according to forest officials.

The elephant, in search of food, wandered onto the farm on Sunday and came into contact with the fence, suffering immediate electrocution. Forest officials investigated the scene and subsequently arrested the farm owner. The elephant's body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.

Further updates on the incident are awaited as authorities continue their investigation. (ANI)
