Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has voiced his disappointment regarding the substantial reduction in central funding for railway projects in the state. The Chief Minister has taken up the issue with Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, urging for immediate intervention to secure the necessary allocation of funds.
Stalin highlighted that the drastic cuts, amounting to Rs 674.8 crore for new line projects and Rs 285.64 crore for doubling projects, will severely hinder the progress of critical ongoing and future railway projects in Tamil Nadu. These budget reductions have also taken a toll on other public transportation projects in Chennai and adjacent areas.
The Chief Minister expressed his concerns in a letter addressed to the Central Minister, underscoring that the significant funding shortfall compared to the interim budget will delay essential infrastructure developments. Stalin urged for an expeditious resolution to ensure the timely completion of projects.
