The Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday announced a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, affecting several senior officials, including the transfer of Principal Home Secretary P Amudha, IAS.

Dheeraj Kumar, currently serving as Additional Chief Secretary to the Government in the Information Technology and Digital Services Department, has been appointed as her replacement. Kumar will now head the Home, Prohibition, and Excise Department.

The reshuffle comes in the wake of the recent murders of two political leaders, K Armstrong of BSP and Balasubramanian of Naam Tamilar Katchi, highlighting the urgent need for administrative changes.

Amudha has been reassigned as Principal Secretary of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department. The overhaul also saw the transfer of Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner Dr. J Radhakrishnan to the role of Additional Chief Secretary, Cooperation, Food, and Consumer Protection Department, succeeding Dr. K Gopal.

In other significant changes, senior IAS officer Kumar Jayant has been posted as the Additional Chief Secretary to the Government in the Information Technology and Digital Services Department. J Kumaragurubaran, previously the Secretary of the School Education Department, will replace Radhakrishnan in the city civic body.
