The incident took place on Rohtak-Chinauli road following a tip-off, leading police to intercept the suspects' car around 8.40 pm. The gangsters, who were behind a recent murder in west Delhi, tried to flee but were trapped when their vehicle got stuck near a farm.

In the ensuing gunfire, police shot back in self-defense, injuring and killing the gangsters, who faced multiple criminal charges, including murder and extortion. Haryana Police has registered a separate case for investigating the encounter.
