In a significant development, CBI officials have summoned Sandip Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, for questioning for the third day in a row in connection with the rape and murder of a woman doctor.
Ghosh, who was intensively interrogated for nearly 13 hours on Saturday, has been asked to reappear this morning as the investigation agency still has numerous questions for him, an officer informed PTI.
The CBI is focusing on understanding Ghosh's role following the doctor's death, including his actions and decisions, such as making the victim's parents wait for three hours and ordering the renovation of rooms near the seminar hall. Investigators are also probing any possible conspiracy linked to the incident, with Ghosh's statements being verified against other witnesses.
Thus far, over 20 individuals have been questioned by the agency, and Ghosh, who resigned two days post the discovery of the doctor's body, has sought protection due to fears of attack. The body was found on August 9, leading to the arrest of a civic volunteer.
