Authorities have confirmed the identities of five Afghan men found hanging from electricity poles in Dalbandin, Chagai district. Despite the identification, no group has claimed responsibility for the gruesome killings, according to Dawn.
The victims, identified as Rozi Khan, Rehmat Ullah, Sami Ullah, Agha Wali, and Sardar Wali, were residents of Lashkar Gah, Afghanistan. As Muhammad Jawad from the Shah Fahad Bin Sultan Hospital reported, the bodies were identified with the help of Muhammad Yahya, an Afghan refugee camp resident in Chagai district. The bodies have been moved to Quetta.
Police suspect the five men might be linked to a viral video, where individuals confessed to murdering Murad Notezai, a leader of the banned militant group Jaish al-Adl. This group, which operates in the Sistan-Baluchestan region of Iran, may have kidnapped and executed the victims in retaliation. Investigators are still working to confirm if the bodies match those in the video.
Uncertainty lingers as officials and independent sources have not verified a connection between the victims and the individuals in the video. The investigation continues to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the deaths.
"We are investigating the incident to determine whether the deceased are the same individuals who made confessional statements in the video or if they are unrelated individuals," a senior police officer stated. (ANI)
