Kolkata Police Summon Prominent Figures Over Alleged Rumor-Mongering in Rape-Murder Case
Kolkata Police have summoned former BJP MP Locket Chatterjee and two prominent doctors, among others, for allegedly spreading rumors and disclosing the identity of a rape-murder victim. The police stated that these actions have hampered their investigation and posed a threat to law and order.

Kolkata Police have summoned former BJP MP Locket Chatterjee and two renowned doctors over allegations of spreading rumors and disclosing the identity of a rape-murder victim, according to an officer.
Apart from Chatterjee, Dr. Kunal Sarkar and Dr. Subarna Goswami, the police have also summoned 57 others for allegedly spreading misinformation about the case.
Renowned cardiologist Dr. Kunal Sarkar confirmed receiving the summons but noted he was out of town. Dr. Subarna Goswami and Locket Chatterjee stated they had not yet received any summons. Commissioner Vineet Goyal mentioned that rumor-mongering has significantly impacted their investigation and posed a threat to law and order.
