Abu Dhabi [UAE], July 12 (ANI/WAM): The UAE delegation to the United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development held discussions with UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed on Wednesday to expedite the progress on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) over the next six years. The UAE delegation was led by Abdulla Nasser Lootah, Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange and Chairman of the National Committee on Sustainable Development Goals, at the UN headquarters in New York.

The talks explored opportunities for knowledge exchange, international cooperation, and partnerships that align with SDG17, which emphasizes partnerships for the goals. The UAE delegation showcased several national initiatives aimed at promoting inclusive development that benefits individuals, society, and the planet, while also preserving resources for future generations. The delegation, apart from Lootah, included key figures such as Rashid Mubarak Al Mansouri, Acting Secretary-General of the Emirates Red Crescent, Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, Lieutenant Colonel Dana Humaid Al Marzooqi, Director-General of International Affairs Bureau at the Ministry of Interior, and Hashem Al Attas, Senior Portfolio Manager MENA at Masdar.

'I look forward to continued cooperation with the UAE to accelerate sustainable development for the 2030 Agenda and beyond, ensuring a better future for communities around the world,' Mohammed said. Lootah reiterated the UAE's commitment to working with the UN to eradicate poverty and hunger, promote climate action, establish robust institutions, and create partnerships supporting the sustainable development goals under the vision of its leadership. The UAE has become a trusted global partner in achieving development goals after decades of collaborative efforts with countries, governments, and organizations worldwide.

The UAE's participation in the HLPF, ongoing until July 17, highlights its dedication to reinforcing the 2030 Agenda. The forum gathers approximately 1,000 officials, experts, and specialists under the theme 'Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: the effective delivery of sustainable, resilient, and innovative solutions.'
