India Reaffirms Commitment to Peace and International Cooperation Amid Russia-Ukraine Conflict and Strengthening Ties with Africa
India reiterates its stance on the Russia-Ukraine war, supporting a negotiated peace while addressing stranded nationals in Russia and Sao Paulo. The MEA also highlights strong India-Africa relations and economic ties at the 19th CII India-Africa Conclave in Delhi.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reaffirmed on Friday India's position on the Russia-Ukraine war, emphasizing its support for any feasible and mutually acceptable peace solution. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the initiation of peace talks should be decided by the conflicting parties. 'As friends and partners, we would support any feasible and mutually acceptable solution or format that could restore peace,' Jaiswal said during a briefing.
Addressing the situation of Indian nationals in Russia, Jaiswal announced that 15 Indians who had been detained have been released and returned to India. 'Our embassy is in constant contact with Russian authorities to facilitate the release of those who wish to return,' he added. Additionally, the MEA is addressing the issue of Indians stranded at Sao Paolo Airport, with consulate officials in touch with Brazilian authorities.
Jaiswal further highlighted India's ongoing efforts for a constructive and solution-oriented engagement in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, reiterating Prime Minister Narendra Modi's readiness to play a role in promoting peace. Concurrently, at the CII Event on Africa, India's historic and evolving relations with Africa were underlined, emphasizing economic partnerships and collaborative efforts to strengthen the Global South. The 19th CII India-Africa Conclave in Delhi showcased strengthened ties, with significant attendance and participation from African dignitaries and delegates.
