The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has achieved a significant milestone in its fight against mosquito-borne diseases, reporting a 94% drop in dengue cases compared to last year, according to data released on Friday.
The NDMC area recorded just seven dengue cases up to August 29, a drastic reduction from the 131 cases logged during the same period last year. NDMC Member Kuljeet Singh Chahal attributed this success to intensified surveillance and awareness campaigns.
Efforts to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds have been robust, with 1,679 notices issued and 104 challans formalized this year. The public health department has also deployed additional workforce and equipment, resulting in thorough inspections of public spaces, institutions, and residences.
