In a bid to tackle the shortage of specialist doctors in state-run hospitals, the Jharkhand government has announced plans to enlist private doctors to fill the gap. This was revealed during an event where appointment letters were distributed to 365 community health officers (CHOs) by Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

The government aims to improve the state's health infrastructure, minimizing the need for residents to seek medical treatment outside the state. As part of the initiative, private doctors will be offered incentives to provide their services in community health centres and district hospitals.

Chief Minister Soren highlighted recent schemes to improve cleanliness and maintenance of medical facilities, with an annual budget of Rs 5 crore. Additionally, he mentioned significant recruitment efforts to boost manpower in the health sector and other areas, responding to criticism about employment issues from opposition parties.
